mophie’s founding principle is simple: do more.

I helped push the boundaries of mobile power accessories at mophie. When wireless charging came on the scene, we were the first brand to widely support the wireless mobile ecosystem and were a launch partner when Apple decided to support wireless charging as well. Our design team was solely focused on enhancing the experience of using your mobile device.

mophie juice pack

The juice pack is synonymous with the mophie brand. When I joined mophie in 2012, I started with the juice pack for the iPhone 5 and had a hand in just about every subsequent juice pack going forward.

H2PRO DEVELOPMENT

mophie 3-in-1 Stand

The perfect bedside caddy for mobile devices, the 3-in-1 stand charges any mobile device in landscape or portrait due to a triple wireless coil array. The charge pad and watch puck are perfect for Airpods and the Apple Watch.

Apple’s clever nightstand mode functionality still works on the iPhone as well as the Apple watch and the charging indicator LEDs turn off after 5 seconds so that they do not disturb the user.

juice pack Car Dock

The juice pack Car Dock was amazing for its time to facilitate hands-free phone use for calls and navigation at a time when in-car navigation was poorly implemented.

The success of this project led to additional ecosystem projects such as the juice pack charging dock, the lightning dock, and eventually, the universal powerstation kit.

FINAL DESIGN

mophie Lightning Dock

Considering technical guidelines when developing products with external partners is always important.

The mophie Lightning Dock was developed shortly after Apple’s C11 guidelines came out for MFi. Because this was a new standard, there was very little literature to work with. I was responsible for creating a design presentation to establish that our product would not violate their requirements so that mophie could purchase these connectors.

PROTOTYPES — Rapid prototyping was used to refine the mechanism before proposing the solution to Apple.
